HEARING CONSERVATION AND SERVICES TO INDUSTRY

State Of The Art Mobile Services Truck
Our State of the Art Mobile Facility

High noise levels both on and off the job can cause significant loss of hearing. Many are exposed to hazardous noise levels in the workplace, but exposure from damaging noise may also occur while you are enjoying recreational activities such as hunting, motorcycling, or listening to loud music. Whether or not noise is damaging depends on both the level of noise and the length of exposure. Individuals can protect themselves from the effects of noise by using hearing protectors, monitoring their hearing, limiting exposure to noise, and being aware of noise in the environment.

OSHA regulations mandate an effective hearing conservation program for employees exposed to high noise levels in the workplace. The staff at Audiology Consultants can assist you in developing a hearing conservation program that meets standards, is cost effective and protects employees from developing hearing loss due to noise exposure.

Our services include:

  • Noise surveys. Noise surveys assess the range of sound levels, determine employee exposure and identify employees who must be included in the hearing conservation program.

  • On site hearing tests. Readily accessible hearing testing is a key component of an effective hearing conservation program. Our mobile unit comes to your plant to minimize off-work time and provide cost-effective hearing tests with testing designed to suit your work schedule.

  • Data processing and analysis. Reports provided by our data processing department are an effective management tool. The information provided assists in assessing your hearing conservation program's effectiveness and forms the basis for follow-up action.

  • Audiogram review. Through careful review, by qualified audiologists, we can identify employees who will benefit from referral, and those whose hearing is changing due to noise exposure or other causes.

  • Education. We can provide training sessions for your staff including education for employees exposed to noise and information for management involved in administering the program. Further, Audiology Consultants provides classes for those wishing to become certified as Occupational Hearing Conservationists.

  • Personal hearing protection. Our staff can assist in determining the types of hearing protection appropriate for each employee. When appropriate we can provide custom molded earplugs for comfortable, cost-effective hearing protection.

  • Worker's compensation evaluation.

  • Assistance for the hearing impaired worker including assistive listening and alerting devices.

If you are uncertain whether you should institute a hearing conservation program, call us to schedule a consultation and screening noise survey. We will determine whether a hearing conservation program is required. If you already have a program, we will be happy to visit with you to be certain your program complies with state and federal requirements.
